What is an e-Portfolio?

Young people are increasingly engaging with a range of new multimedia technologies to communicate and for entertainment. Portable devices such as mobile phones with high resolution images and video as well as MySpace and YouTube are just some of examples.

This provides schools and educators with a great opportunity to use this medium as innovative learning and teaching tools.

Using free programs such as Microsoft's Movie Maker, Photostory 3, Producer, along with Audacity and Google's Picassa, it is possible to create quality interactive and engaging learning resources, for example, Blogs, Podcasts and digital or e-portfolios.

Completed work can be saved to a portable device such as a mobile phone or digital player such as an iPod; uploaded to a Blog, or saved to a CD.

E-portfolios provide a new way for young people to promote themselves using digital technology while at the same time develop new skills.
